Today, I’m excited to introduce a standout piece from kearny’s latest 25AW collection — the “Konide-2,” a frame inspired by the silhouette of Mount Akagi, a mountain deeply connected to Gunma Prefecture.
This release also marks the return of kearny's use of celluloid material for the frame — something we haven’t seen in a while.

「Konide-2」とは
Konide-2は、日本を代表する二つの山、富士山と赤城山の姿を反映したプロダクトです。
その名の由来は「成層火山＝コニーデ火山」。噴火と堆積を繰り返しながら長い年月をかけて理想的な形に変化していく成層火山のように、このアイウェアも時間の経過と共に完成へと向かう“進化の美”を体現しています。
デザインの背景

富士山の現在の姿と、かつての赤城山のシルエットをベースに、10万分の1スケールでレンズサイズに落とし込んだ緻密な設計。

地球が赤道を軸にわずかに膨らむという、自然の微細な特性に着想を得て、アウトラインには自然が生み出す曲線美を表現。

デザインには、時間の流れ・自然の変化・人との調和というkearnyならではの哲学が込められています。
素材と機能美

フレームにはセルロイドを使用。顔に馴染むように変化し、使い込むほどに“自分だけの理想的な形”へと近づいていきます。

鼻パッドにはチタン素材を採用。強度と軽さ、快適なフィット感を両立しています。
What is “Konide-2”?
Konide-2 is a product inspired by the forms of two iconic Japanese mountains: Mount Fuji and Mount Akagi.
Its name comes from “stratovolcano,” known in Japanese as “Konide.” Just as stratovolcanoes evolve into ideal forms over time through repeated eruptions and deposits, this eyewear embodies the beauty of evolution, growing more refined with age and wear.
Design Inspiration
The lens dimensions are meticulously calculated based on a 1:100,000 scale of Mount Fuji’s current silhouette and the ancient shape of Mount Akagi.
The frame’s outline draws inspiration from the Earth’s natural curvature—specifically, the subtle bulge around the equator—capturing the graceful lines only nature can create.
Embedded within the design is kearny’s unique philosophy: the passage of time, the transformation of nature, and harmony with people.
Materials and Functional Beauty
The frame is crafted from celluloid, a material that naturally adapts to the wearer’s face over time, eventually shaping into a truly personal, ideal fit.
The nose pads are made from titanium, offering both strength and lightness for a comfortable, secure feel.
