【素材】
・約12ozのアーカイブピースとなるデニムの風合いを追求し作成した生地
・糸から拘り、オリジナルのバルキーさを表現し、ラスティックなネップ感を入れ込み、デニムの産地、 井原にて製作
・米綿100％に拘り、弱強撚をすることで米綿の持つドライな糸質をよりしなやかに、表情のあるブラックセルヴィッチデニムへ昇華
・生地はいわゆるキバタと言われる織り上がった状態のものから、特殊な方法でサンフォライズ(防縮加工)のみをかけている
・通常の防縮方法とは違いますのでいわゆるリジッドデニムと呼ばれる表面にノリが付着した固い生地にはならず柔らかな手触りを表現
・風合いや色味の重厚感、実際手に取った時の質感や、着用時の履きやすさ、糸使いも含めて、 OLDJOEならではのプリミティブかつモダンな存在感を持ったオリジナルデニム

OLD JOE / 980 BLACK STANDARD JEANS
A black version of the signature “980” standard denim, crafted from a specially selected Kibata denim exclusively available this season.

Design
The signature “980” standard denim from OLD JOE.
Based on the classic five-pocket jean, with carefully refined pocket proportions and overall balance.
While remaining faithful to authentic vintage denim details, it features a unique lining construction designed to help prevent color transfer when wearing shirts tucked in.
Reinforced gussets are placed at key stress points, adding a distinctive twist to traditional denim construction.
Designed to be worn with a pressed crease line, creating a more sophisticated appearance that sets it apart from conventional jeans.
The denim used for this season’s capsule collection is a specially selected Kibata denim, different from the brand’s regular denim fabric.
As part of the update to OLD JOE’s original denim program, this exclusive Kibata denim is available only for a limited period.
This marks the first-ever black denim release in the collection.
Can be worn as a matching set with the ONE POCKET JEAN JACKET.
Material
Developed to recreate the texture and character of approximately 12oz archival denim pieces.
Produced in Ihara, Japan, a renowned denim-producing region, using carefully selected yarns that create the original bulky texture and rustic nep character.
Made from 100% American cotton. Through a specialized combination of low and high-twist spinning, the naturally dry texture of American cotton is transformed into a supple and expressive black selvedge denim.
The fabric begins as traditional Kibata denim in its raw woven state and undergoes only a special sanforization process (shrink-resistance treatment).
Unlike conventional shrink-proofing methods, this process avoids the stiff, glue-coated texture associated with rigid denim, resulting instead in a softer hand feel.
From its rich texture and deep black tone to its comfort and unique yarn character, this original denim embodies OLD JOE’s distinctive blend of primitive authenticity and modern sophistication.
Silhouette & Sizing
A relaxed straight-leg silhouette based on classic five-pocket jeans, with refined proportions and a slightly roomier fit through the leg.
A staff member measuring 175cm / 65kg wears size 30 (S) for a perfect fit.
The same staff member wears size 32 (M) with approximately one fist-width of extra room at the waist.

Buyer's Voice
The indigo version was excellent, but this season I was even more drawn to the new black denim. Unlike most denim from other brands, these jeans have a refined and mature appearance rather than a purely casual look. Yet with wear, they develop the character and charm of true vintage denim.
