A Repaired and Faded Sweatshirt Inspired by Vintage Double-V Sweatshirts
Design
Inspired by the classic Double-V Sweatshirts found in American sweatshirts from the 1940s and 1950s, featuring V-shaped gussets at both the front and back of the neckline.
Originally developed as functional details to absorb sweat and provide additional stretch, these V-gussets are now beloved as iconic features of vintage sweatshirts.
One of the defining characteristics of this piece is its carefully reproduced repair marks, reminiscent of a sweatshirt that has continued to be worn despite tears and abrasion, together with extensive fading that makes the original color difficult to identify.
Rather than creating an overly pristine reproduction, BOWWOW first imagines a garment that has been shaped by its owner's lifestyle and purpose, then incorporates those traces of time into the finished product as a new garment.
