・洋服をミシンで縫うためには縫い代が必ず必要となり、それぞれの箇所に合った縫い代始末を考えることも洋服製作においてはとても重要なこと
・その縫い代の始末の仕方や出来栄えで洋服の見え方は変化するほど、縫製者の腕の見せ所ともいえる
・洋服は多数のパーツの組み合わせであり、パーツを合わせる箇所全てに縫い代始末が存在
・多種多様な始末が存在しますが、時と場合により、その縫い代始末が分厚くなったり、硬くなったり、着用感に違和感を覚えることもある
・ストレスのない着用感を実現するには、洋服の各シームを無くすという発想になることはごく自然なことで、近年では、縫うのではなく、接着する、ニットアイテムのように一続きで
網立てる方法など色々進化している
・このインコードロック仕様は、今まで存在したミシンを使い、全く新しい縫い方によってシームレスを実現した方法
・各パーツの端に細いコードを当て、振り幅の小さい千鳥ミシンでコードと身頃を縫い合わせていく始末の方法
・デザイナー自身最初に聞いただけでは全く理解できないのですが、その特許技術を持つ工場に出向き、実際に目の当たりにした時には、本当に感動し言葉を失ったそう
・今までにあったミシンで全く違う縫い方を考え、しかもそれが単に面白い始末の方法ではなく、理にかなった落とし所になり、
しかもその見栄えがとても美しいデザインにもなっているインコードロック
・技術革新による新たな機械によるものではなく、縫製方法をしっかりと踏まえた方のアイデアによる全く新しい縫い方
・今あるものの中で、いかに新しい提案ができるかを模索している山内のコンセプトにもとても近しいものを感じる技術

An In-Cord Lock tailored jacket that showcases a truly innovative construction technique

Design
A tailored-collar knit jacket with an extended length.
Every seam is finished using the In-Cord Lock construction, while the lapel edges, cuffs, and hem feature contrasting color accents.
Although designed to be worn casually like a cardigan, it lacks the typical casual appearance of knitwear, instead resembling a soft, tailored shirt jacket with refined construction.

Every sewn garment requires seam allowances, and determining the appropriate seam finish for each section is one of the most important aspects of garment construction.
The way these seam allowances are finished dramatically affects the appearance and comfort of a garment, making it one of the true showcases of a skilled craftsman's expertise.
Since garments are assembled from numerous individual pattern pieces, seam allowances exist wherever two pieces meet.
While many seam-finishing techniques exist, they can sometimes create unnecessary bulk, stiffness, or discomfort depending on the application.
Pursuing a stress-free wearing experience naturally leads to the idea of minimizing seams altogether. In recent years, methods such as bonding fabrics instead of sewing or knitting garments seamlessly in one piece have continued to evolve.
The In-Cord Lock construction takes an entirely different approach, utilizing conventional sewing machines while achieving a remarkably seamless finish through an innovative stitching method.
A thin cord is placed along the edge of each pattern piece, and both the cord and fabric are joined using a narrow zigzag stitch.
Designer Yamauchi has said that even after first hearing about the technique, he couldn't fully understand how it worked. However, when he visited the factory holding the patented technology and witnessed the process firsthand, he was genuinely amazed and left speechless.
Rather than simply creating a novel construction detail, this technique offers a highly rational solution while simultaneously producing a beautifully refined aesthetic.
Unlike innovations driven by entirely new machinery, In-Cord Lock represents a groundbreaking sewing method born from a deep understanding of traditional garment construction.
It is a technique that closely reflects Yamauchi's philosophy of discovering entirely new possibilities within existing craftsmanship and manufacturing methods.
