・私は何となく、今季ドライバーズニットが欲しいと思いました。当店でお取り扱いするニットのスペシャリストといえばやはり「YASHIKI」ということで製作を依頼
・私の要望はとてもGANKOで色替えや生地替えではその要望はかなわず、今回型から起こした完全当店仕様の別注アイテム
・まずドライバーズニットが欲しかったのですが、私個人としてはウール素材のドライバーズニットはかっこいいのですが、出番が減ってしまうと思いましたので通年着用可能なコットン素材をセレクト
・そしてインラインにあった全面に雪の結晶をイメージしたY字のニットの柄がとても好みで、この柄を活かして一枚でも主役になり、インナー使いでも映えるドライバーズニットにいたしました
・首周りのリブ、袖のリブはあえて柄なしのブラックにすることで柄物でありながら幅広いお客様になじむようなデザインを意識
・これはデザイナーの矢舗さんがバランスを考慮して気遣ったディテールですが、両サイドにポケット付きなのですが、柄のデザインを消さないように脇になじませたポケットの仕様になっている
・年齢、世代、性別問わず幅広いお客様に愛用いただけるスペシャルなドライバーズニットになりました

【素材】
・40番手の綿糸を二本撚り合わせ、その糸を４本取り12ゲージの編み機に掛けて編み立てている
・通常の二倍近くの本数を使用しておりますので、しっかりと目が詰まった編み地
・その分密度が高くなり、軟弱では無く、ギュッと詰まった生地
・柄を後から乗せたニットではなく、編地そのもので柄を表現したシングルジャガードニット
・ジッパーには滑りの良いYKKを使用

【シルエット・サイズ】
・着用時に肩が落ちて柔らかな印象になる様にYASHIKIでは定番となった着物のパターンをオマージュして仕上げている

A Special-Order Drivers Knit That Brings All of GANKO’s Requests to Life

Design
Inspired by a quiet, windless night, with snow gently falling and silently accumulating.
The all-over basket pattern evokes fallen leaves layered over one another, recalling the abundance of the autumn harvest.
Y-shaped motifs inspired by snow crystals are incorporated throughout the knit, expressing the quiet, soundless fall of snow.
A single-jacquard knit, with the pattern expressed directly through the knitting structure rather than applied afterward.
A relaxed drivers knit silhouette inspired by traditional Japanese garments.
A two-way zipper allows for a wide range of styling options.
The ribbing at the cuffs and hem partially switches to the patterned knit, adding subtle visual variation.
GANKO Exclusive Details

This special-order piece was designed with the GANKO-exclusive JB JACKET from CCU’s 26AW collection in mind, and works particularly well as an inner layer.

I had been thinking that I wanted a drivers knit this season. Since YASHIKI is our specialist when it comes to knitwear, I naturally reached out to them to develop one.

However, my requests were very specific. Simply changing the color or fabric would not have been enough to achieve what I had in mind, so this is a completely GANKO-specific special order developed from the pattern up.

First of all, I wanted a drivers knit. Personally, I love the look of wool drivers knits, but I felt that their wearing season would be somewhat limited. For that reason, I chose cotton, allowing the piece to be worn throughout the year.

I was also particularly drawn to the all-over Y-shaped knit motif inspired by snow crystals that was part of YASHIKI’s original collection. We decided to build on that pattern and create a drivers knit that could work as a statement piece on its own while also standing out when worn as an inner layer.

For the neck and sleeve cuffs, we intentionally used plain black ribbing without the pattern. This was done to make the knit easier to incorporate into a wide range of wardrobes, despite its distinctive all-over pattern.

Another thoughtful detail by designer Yashiki-san is the placement of the side pockets. Although the knit features pockets on both sides, they are integrated naturally into the side seams so that they do not interrupt or compromise the overall pattern.

The result is a truly special drivers knit designed to be enjoyed by a wide range of customers, regardless of age, generation, or gender.

Material

The knit is made using two-ply 40-count cotton yarn, with four strands of the yarn fed into a 12-gauge knitting machine.

Nearly twice the usual number of yarns are used, resulting in a densely knitted fabric with a substantial, tightly packed feel.

Rather than applying the pattern onto the surface afterward, the design is expressed directly through the knitted structure itself, creating a single-jacquard knit with a rich sense of texture and depth.

The zipper is fitted with a smooth-gliding YKK zipper.

Silhouette & Sizing

The silhouette is based on YASHIKI’s signature kimono-inspired pattern, allowing the shoulders to naturally drop when worn and creating a soft, relaxed impression.

Care

Made from 100% cotton knit, this piece can be washed at home.

It has also been tested through more than 30 washes and remains perfectly wearable, making it a practical knit that can be enjoyed regularly over the long term.
